Artist Statement

I decided to create my film “I Fear” after I took a huge courageous decision despite my fear. A decision that had a huge positive impact on my life.

Fears can come in so many forms, and it can defiantly stand in the way of our success and happiness. Sometimes we can miss on important opportunities, feel trapped in a toxic relationship .. but we don’t act, just because we are afraid. For that, I wanted to communicate to others the importance of fighting their fears and taking courageous steps.

technique

To create the film, I choose the Plasticine material because I believed that it’s capable of communicating lots of emotions.

Morphing the Plasticine to different forms and shapes throughout the film has linked the fears together and created a more interesting visual.

The material included an obvious intersection of colors which added depth and signified the complexity of the fears.

The Harsh textures and lines used in film have strongly conveyed the deepness of fears, specially in the “Fear of Failure” scene. Where textures were visually like sea waves, representing the drowning effect fears can have on us.

In the final Part, fears are shown in distinctive colors, and each person is shown holding a unique color. Hence, symbolize how courage can differ depending on the different challenges (Physical, Emotional .. ) each of us face.
